CPA Exam Score Release Dates for 2027 and 2028
The AICPA has published score release dates through June 2028, and the back half of that schedule works differently from anything candidates sit under today. Beginning in July 2027 the CPA Exam moves to a new technology delivery platform, and the administration calendar changes with it: Core sections go from eight score releases a year to four, tied to fixed testing windows with gaps between them.
If you are sequencing sections inside the 30-month window, that shift is the thing to plan around. The AICPA labels the whole schedule subject to change, so treat the 2028 dates as firm enough to plan with and loose enough to re-check.
How CPA score releases work through mid-2027
Two different clocks run behind the current schedule.
Core sections (AUD, FAR, REG) are offered continuously. Scores post on a rolling cadence: the AICPA publishes a series of cutoff dates, and if Prometric transmits your exam data file by a cutoff, your score arrives on that cutoff's target release date, usually one to two weeks later.
Discipline sections (BAR, ISC, TCP) are administered only during set testing windows and scored in a single batch after each window closes. Through the April 2027 window, those windows are the first month of each quarter. The wait is longer, roughly six to nine weeks from the end of the window.

What changes in July 2027
The new platform brings a new user interface and, more consequentially for planning, a different administration schedule. Core sections stop releasing on a rolling two-to-three-week cadence and move to four testing windows a year with one release date each.
That leaves stretches with no published Core testing window: December 16 to 31, 2027 and March 16 to 31, 2028, plus the changeover period in early July 2027 before the first new window opens on July 12. Under the current schedule you can sit a Core section in almost any week you choose. From July 2027 you cannot.
The Discipline sections stay at four windows a year, but the first one under the new platform is shortened to roughly a month straddling July and August 2027 rather than the usual full month at the start of the quarter.

Planning sections around the release calendar
Four practical consequences fall out of the schedule.
Discipline timing is the constraint. A January 2027 Discipline sitting does not score until March 16. If you fail and need to retake, the April window is your next shot, and that score does not land until June 9. One Discipline miss can cost close to half a year, so most candidates are better off sitting their Discipline early in the 30-month window rather than saving it for last.
Test early against a Core cutoff. Through mid-2027, Core scores key off when your file reaches the AICPA, so sitting a few days before a cutoff usually gets you a score within two weeks. Sitting the day after one adds most of a month to the wait.
Watch the July 2027 line if your window closes near it. A Core section that would have been a routine spring 2028 sitting now has to land inside a published window, and a retake after a June 2028 result has no announced window yet. Candidates whose 30-month clock runs out in 2028 have the least room to absorb that, and should build in a spare window.
