Free Series 79 Practice Questions

FreeFellow hosts more than 1,100 free Series 79 practice questions, every one an original item with a step-by-step solution, covering all three FINRA function areas. There is no trial window, no question cap, and no signup required to browse. Start at the Series 79 practice page.

Key Concept

The entire bank is free. Commercial Series 79 courses run several hundred dollars for the same study phase; FreeFellow gives the full question bank away and reserves only timed mocks, flashcards, and analytics for the optional Fellow tier.

What the Bank Covers

The Series 79 is 75 scored questions in 2.5 hours, weighted by FINRA across three functions. The FreeFellow bank mirrors that structure:

  • Collection, analysis, and evaluation of data: financial statements, financial modeling, valuation (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions), and due diligence
  • Underwriting and new financings: the registration process, types of debt and equity offerings, syndicate mechanics, and the regulatory framework
  • Mergers, acquisitions, tender offers, and restructuring: deal structures, fairness opinions, tender-offer rules, and reorganization mechanics

Each function has its own drill page, and the free diagnostic quiz gives a readiness baseline in a few minutes.

What a Solution Looks Like

Every item ships with a worked solution, not just an answer letter. Valuation and accretion/dilution questions walk the arithmetic step by step. Offering-process and M&A-rules questions explain why the credited choice is right and what each distractor gets wrong. The Series 79 is as much a rules exam as a finance exam, and the solutions treat it that way.

How to Use It

A sequence that works for most candidates:

  1. Take the diagnostic to find your weakest function area.
  2. Drill the analytical core first (modeling and valuation), then the offering and M&A rules.
  3. Switch to mixed practice once per-topic accuracy stabilizes, because the real exam interleaves topics.
  4. Watch the readiness score. It weights recent performance by topic and tracks you against the pass threshold as you go.

The Series 79 overview explains the format, the SIE corequisite, and what each function area tests. The SIE itself is covered in the SIE overview.
