Commercial Series 6 courses run roughly $100 to $350 for the same study phase. FreeFellow's optional Fellow tier adds timed mock exams, flashcards, analytics, focus practice and a study plan, but you don't pay anything for the question bank itself.
What the exam tests
The Series 6 is 50 scored questions in 90 minutes, weighted by FINRA across four functions. The bank is organized the same way, and each function has its own practice page:
- Mutual funds and packaged products: share classes, sales charges, breakpoints, expense ratios, net asset value
- Variable annuities and variable life: accumulation and annuity phases, the separate account, surrender charges, death benefits, tax deferral
- Retirement and tax-advantaged accounts: traditional and Roth IRAs, 401(k) and 403(b) plans, contribution limits, distributions
- Suitability, communications and regulations: customer profiles, the suitability standard, prohibited practices, communications with the public
The solutions show the work. Breakpoint and sales-charge questions go through the arithmetic step by step, and suitability and rules questions explain why the right choice is right and which misunderstanding each wrong choice is built on.
How to use the bank
- Take the free diagnostic quiz first. It gives you a readiness baseline in a few minutes and shows you your weakest function area.
- Work on your weakest area next, and read every solution, even on questions you got right. Topic-by-topic drilling is part of Fellow, and a free account gets one preview drill a week.
- Once your accuracy by topic levels off, switch to mixed practice, since the real exam mixes topics together.
- Use the readiness score to see where you stand. It weights your recent performance by topic and tracks you against the pass threshold as you go.
